Night of Rapsodi 2014 - Joint Performance of Brunei And Singapore Artistes

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sunday, November 16, 2014 - POPULAR Singaporean and Bruneian artistes came together yesterday for a night of spectacular performances at the annual variety show ‘Rapsodi’ at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre’s stage.

The event is a joint musical entertainment programme between Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) and MediaCorp Singapore.

A line-up of singers from the island nation the likes of Rahimah Rahim, Aisyah Aziz, Hariani and Sufie Rashid together with some of the Sultanate’s renowned names such as Juju and Seniman Jalanan wowed their crowd with their rendition of songs from the past, highlighting the theme, “Inspirasi Musik” (Inspired by Music).

Present as the guest of honour was Brunei’s Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awg Hj Mohd Yasmin Hj Umar and Singapore’s Minister of Communications and Information (MCI), Dr Yaacob Ibrahim.

Also present to enliven the gala night were Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) in Prime Minister’s Office, Hj Mohd Rozan Dato Paduka Hj Md Yunos; Permanent Secretary of MCI Singapore, Aubeck Kam; High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei, His Excellency Jaya Ratnam; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) in Prime Minister’s Office Hj Idris Hj Md Ali; Director of RTB, Hj Md Suffian Hj Bungsu, Head Executive Officer of MediaCorp Singapore, Shaun Seow and Deputy Director of Information Department, Mawardi Hj Mohammad.

Rapsodi is one of the projects under the Memorandum of Understanding concerning co-operation in the field of broadcasting between Singapore and Brunei Darussalam in the hopes of enhancing the friendship between the two countries. The musical show was also aired live on RTB 2 and the Pelangi FM radio station.
